Before you start
The Auto-Trader is a trading desk that Claude runs for you. It pulls live Solana market data, checks each coin's safety, gets real buy and sell prices for your size, and keeps a trading book. You talk to it in plain English inside Claude Desktop.
You need:
- A Windows PC.
- Python 3.10 or newer, free from python.org.
- Claude Desktop, free from claude.ai/download, signed in to a Claude account.
- The Auto-Trader download from your account page. It comes with an Auto-Trader purchase.
Install
1Install Python
Run the installer from python.org. On the first screen, tick Add python.exe to PATH, then click Install Now. Skip this step if Python is already installed.
2Extract the Auto-Trader
Right-click Whiteout-AutoTrader.zip, choose Extract All, and extract it somewhere permanent, such as C:\Whiteout. Claude Desktop starts the Auto-Trader from this folder every time, so don't move or delete it later. Never run it from inside the zip.
3Run Install.bat
Open the extracted Whiteout folder and double-click Install.bat. It finds Python, installs the one package the Auto-Trader needs, and prints a block of settings between two lines. Leave that window open for the next step.
Connect Claude
4Open the Claude config
In Claude Desktop, open the Claude menu (the menu bar, not the settings inside a chat), choose Settings, then the Developer tab, then Edit Config. This opens the file claude_desktop_config.json in its folder. Open it with Notepad.
5Paste the settings
Copy the block Install.bat printed, starting at the first { and ending at the last }. Don't copy the lines that start with #.
- If the file is empty or only contains {}, replace everything with the block.
- If it already has an "mcpServers" section, copy only the "tradebox": { … } part and paste it inside that section, with a comma after the entry before it.
Save the file.
6Restart Claude
Quit Claude Desktop completely: right-click its icon in the system tray (bottom right, near the clock) and choose Quit. Closing the window isn't enough. Then open it again. The first start can take up to a minute while Python loads.
7Check it's connected
In a new chat, click the + button at the bottom left, open Connectors, and look for tradebox. That's the engine the Auto-Trader runs on. If it's listed with its tools, you're done.
First session
Start a new chat and say:
Run a tradebox desk session.Claude checks live prices, your paper balance, and which data sources are up, then suggests what to do next. When Claude asks to use a tradebox tool, choose Allow (or Always allow so it doesn't ask every time).
Things to try:
Scan Solana for coins with at least $50k liquidity. Check this coin: paste a contract address or a DexScreener, pump.fun, Birdeye or GMGN linkA coin check returns:
- Safety verdict: PASS, WARN or REFUSE, with the reasons. It checks mint and freeze authority, holder concentration, liquidity and pair age.
- Real prices: what you'd get buying at your size and selling straight back, and how far that is from the chart price.
- Round-trip cost: how much a buy and immediate sell would lose, including fees.
Paper trading
Every paper trade needs a reason, called a thesis. It's saved with the trade so you can review your calls later.
Paper buy $20 of this coin. Thesis: holders are spread out, liquidity is deep, and buys are beating sells this hour. Show my portfolio. Sell half of that position. Show my trade history.Trades fill at a live price no older than 20 seconds, and positions are valued at what you could actually sell for, not the chart price. Profit and loss is shown at several fee levels so you can see how much fees and slippage cost you.
Autotrader
The autotrader runs on its own paper book, separate from your manual trades. It checks the market every two minutes and follows fixed rules:
| Buys when | Sells when |
|---|---|
| Liquidity is at least $50,000 The pair is 1 hour to 14 days old Price is up 2% to 40% this hour Buys outnumber sells by at least 10% Volume this hour is at least $5,000 The safety verdict is PASS | Up 20% (take-profit) Down 10% (stop-loss) Held for 4 hours Liquidity drops below $10,000 (rug exit) |
Each entry is $20. Every buy, sell and skip is logged with its reason.
Start the autotrader. What has the autotrader done so far, and why did it skip the last coins? Change the autotrader's take-profit to 30% and its stop-loss to 8%. Stop the autotrader. It keeps running in the background while your PC is on, even after you close Claude, until you ask Claude to stop it.
Risk limits
Hard limits apply to every trade, manual or automatic. The defaults:
- $50 per trade and $100 per coin
- At most 8 open positions
- New trades stop after $100 of losses in a day
- No trade that moves the price more than 3%
- No coin with under $20,000 of liquidity, and safety PASS only
The kill switch stops all new trades until you turn it off. It stops live buys too; sells still work.
Live trading (real money)
Paper first. When you want the Auto-Trader to trade for real, it trades from a dedicated wallet on your PC, inside limits only you can set. Your AI can use live trading once you turn it on, but it can never turn it on, add a wallet or raise a limit.
1Open the wallet tool
In your Whiteout folder, double-click Wallet.bat. A menu opens. It only works with you at the keyboard; nothing else can drive it.
2Set up a trading wallet
Choose Create a new trading wallet (recommended). It shows the new wallet's private key once: write it down or save it in a password manager, then type SAVED. Or choose Import an existing wallet and paste the private key of a dedicated wallet (typed hidden). Either way the key is stored encrypted for your Windows account on this PC only, and never leaves it.
3Fund it
Send a small amount of SOL to the wallet's address (menu option 1 shows it). Trades pay with SOL by default. At least 0.02 SOL always stays in the wallet for network fees. To pay with USDC instead, change pay_with in the limits and send USDC too.
4Check your limits
Choose Change live limits. The defaults are deliberately small:
| Limit | Default |
|---|---|
| Most per trade | $10 |
| Most in one token | $25 |
| Tokens held at once | 3 |
| Most spent per day | $50 |
| Stop buying after a day's realized loss of | $25 |
| Minimum pool liquidity | $50,000 |
| Worst price vs the quote (slippage) | 1.5% |
5Turn it on
Choose Turn live trading on / off, read the summary, and type LIVE. To let the autotrader also trade by itself, choose Let the autotrader trade live and type AUTO. Turn either off the same way at any time.
6Trade from Claude
Show my wallet. Buy $5 of this coin for real. Thesis: ... Sell my whole live position in this coin. Start the autotrader.Claude asks you to approve each live trade before it runs. Every live trade is checked again against your limits, the coin's safety, liquidity and price impact. The exact transaction is simulated for your wallet before it's signed on your PC. Afterwards Claude reports what really happened, with a Solscan link:
- CONFIRMED: the trade went through. The amounts shown are what really moved, including fees.
- FAILED: the trade landed but the price moved past your slippage limit. Only the network fee (well under a cent) was spent.
- EXPIRED: it never landed. Nothing was spent; it's safe to try again.
- UNKNOWN: the network was slow to answer. Don't retry: the next live action checks the chain and settles it.
For faster, more reliable trades, set a private Solana RPC (a free Helius or QuickNode account) in Wallet.bat.
Troubleshooting
tradebox isn't listed in Claude
Almost always a config issue. Check that you pasted the whole block, that the file still has matching { } brackets, and that you fully quit Claude from the system tray. If you moved the Whiteout folder, run Install.bat again and paste the new block. Claude's log for the Auto-Trader is %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\mcp-server-tradebox.log.
Install.bat says Python wasn't found
Re-run the Python installer, choose Modify, and make sure Add Python to environment variables is ticked. Then run Install.bat again.
A trade was refused
Refusals come with a reason and a next step, such as a risk limit, a failed safety check, or a price quote that went stale. Ask Claude what the reason means.
Simulations and practice drills
The trade simulator and practice drills need a data pack that isn't in this release. Claude says so if you ask for them. They'll return in an update, which will be on your account page.
A live trade was refused
LIVE_DISABLED: turn live trading on in Wallet.bat. INSUFFICIENT_FUNDS: add SOL (0.02 SOL always stays for fees). DAILY_SPEND_CAP or DAILY_LOSS_HALT: a limit you set was reached; it resets at 00:00 UTC. SIMULATION_FAILED: the transaction would have failed, so nothing was signed; usually the price is moving fast (try again, or raise slippage a little).
A data source is down
The Auto-Trader uses free public market data. When a source is slow or rate-limited, the session summary shows it and the Auto-Trader pauses that source instead of using stale prices. Try again in a few minutes.
